I've never been one to promote an entire product line. Previously, because there WAS a tier structure, I could have matched a mail-order offer in most cases with no loss or sweetened an offer by making the unit complete with media, allowing me to make a few bucks. If I were a dealer now, (I'm not) I'd have to reconsider any stocking level of Eheim products. Eheim North America has pretty much destroyed the tier structure for distributors and dealers, selling direct to almost anyone. If you owned a Mercedes dealership and wanted to add another car product would it be a Yugo? As a dealer, I refused to stock Eccos or Libertys.īTW, from what I can figure, a retail price point for a 2080 should be around $600 USD. Like the Liberty hang-on-the-backs and the Ecco filter line, despite the praises the 2080 has received here, my inclination is to say the 2080 is a step backward in style and performance, as well as the class previously offered by ALL Eheim products. It would appear, to me anyway, that Eheim is now doing the same thing.

When comparing the 2080 to the 2260, I STILL prefer the 2260. because it's round it doesn't restrict the flow as much as efisubstrat did. For those unfamiliar with efisubstratpro it looks like kix cereal. Amongst other things, it gives recommendations for filter media and talks about priming and snail proofing the filter, as well as making it even more quiet than it already is. Arguably, the Eheim 2260 is the best canister filter ever made. As far as the media goes, they sell a media kit. The pump output is 1500l or 449gph(US) according to their literature.
